Why we publish
Headlines can tell millions of readers that something changed without explaining what that change means at home. A global energy story might affect US electricity networks, German factories and Australian household tariffs in different ways. CountryWhy aims to publish those differences as original local explainers rooted in evidence.
How our country desks work
One domain contains distinct editorial desks for individual language-and-country pairs. Readers choose their own country, rather than having access automatically restricted by IP address. Each indexed article must contain relevant local facts and source references. If we have not checked a report for that market, we do not pretend the country has a mature newsroom.
Funding and transparency
We intend to keep core research accessible without an account. In future, advertising, newsletters or clearly disclosed research partnerships may fund the work. Any commercial arrangement should be separated from the editorial judgement. The site does not yet claim to have sponsors or an approved ad programme.
Get involved
If a budget line, utility rate case, industry statistic or new regulation deserves investigation, suggest the question and include an official record if you have it. You can also read our research methodology and editorial standards.
